Hi, my name is Leah and I am the creator of Tech Crew HQ!
With my company Inspired Productions, I have worked in many schools and organisations across NSW, Australia and seen the passion and drive that students in the technical and backstage crews have.
Sometimes student Tech Crews are self-taught.
Sometimes they have a mentor or other team member leading them.
I created Tech Crew HQ to give every student at every venue the opportunity to learn from industry professionals.
I have teamed up with industry professionals including Audio Operators, Lighting designers, Stage Managers and Event Managers to give students and educators the most current knowledge and skills of our industry through Tech Crew HQ.
Better yet, these skills and knowledge form the foundation of a career in technical live entertainment, theatre and the arts.
I have been in the live events industry for over 19 years, and worked in schools, concert halls, event centres, theatres and outdoor venues too. My true passion is inspiring the next generation of technical event professionals and equipping them with the best possible knowledge for
- their next school event or production
- and career as a technical specialist in the theatre, arts and live events industry.
I'm always striving to improve myself and the value of Tech Crew HQ for people who are keen to learn more about technical events and live entertainment.

WHY TECH CREW HQ?

Tech Crew HQ was created on the basis that students love to express their creativity in many ways and that technical theatre brings together technology, art, expression, creativity and passion.
Most organisations have a backstage and technical theatre team who supports productions, however not everyone has access to the skills and knowledge required to enhance productions and ensure students are learning safe backstage practices. Over our years of working with schools and other organisations on their events we have seen a gap between the incredible enthusiasm of crews and the technical theatre learning available to them- so we created Tech Crew HQ! Tech Crew HQ provides a structured platform for students to build their skills and knowledge with all aspects of backstage and technical production. |
WHAT CAN TECH CREW HQ DO FOR MY TEAM?
In our experience over years of working with schools and organisations on their events we have learnt that students relish the opportunity to be involved in all aspects of a production and take ownership when they are delegated with a specific role. Often the most memorable times for students are productions, plays and concerts.
In Tech Crew students can be immersed in dance, drama, music, design and the collaborative processes involved for showcasing these works. Many of the tasks involved in providing technical support for events is based on enquiry based learning, problem solving and conceptualization.
Tech Crew HQ online provides industry knowledge and skills in an easily accessible format. With the skills learnt in Tech Crew HQ, students will be more capable to provide technical support for school productions events. It also provides a base for future career opportunities in live events, theatre and the arts.
Through our webinars, Tech Crew HQ also connects students with industry professionals to gain first-hand insight into the technical side of live events!

For in-depth training at your location we have a range of face-to-face workshops that can be tailored to your needs.
